One of my favorite foods is jalapeno poppers. Recently we saw another food site make these jalapeno bites out of melted cheese in an oven. We thought it was pretty cool. But we could do better. The four kids and a chicken went all Wisconsin style and used cheese curds in our jalapeno poppers bites. You won’t believe how well it pulled together below.
In fact, we loved these because they were such a good size! You could pop one in your mouth and it was just right. One of the frustrating things about traditional jalapenos is that you have to bite them in half and you get burning hot cream cheese stuck in your mouth. Not with these! These bite-sized snacks were perfect as an appetizer and we have two friends who impromptu stopped by while we were making this post and they agree. They also said it paired well with wine. So you have that going for you too.
Crispy Jalapeno Poppers Bites
To make crispy jalapeno poppers bites, all you need is a few very simple ingredients that stack together to make a pile of goodness you stick in the oven.
Start by placing parchment paper on a baking sheet. Then place the cheddar cheese in small piles. The recipe below gives the information for one bite, but you can make as many piles as you need to fill a baking sheet. Just leave a little room for them because the cheese will melt a little and you don’t want them running into each other.
Stack the jalapeno ring on the bottom and dab some cream cheese in the middle. The cream cheese will help the cheese curd stay in place. Last, sprinkle with some bacon bits and throw in the oven at 400 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and browned as you like it.
Each bite is easily removed from the parchment paper with a spatula and can be placed on a serving tray or plate. Enjoy!
Jalapeno popper bites that make the perfect appetizer. Each is made to be bite sized and served individually. Melted cheese, salty bacon, and a small bite of spice from a jalapeno ring round out this savory appetizer.
