Traeger Smoked Salmon Review

Traeger Smoked Salmon

We did a review of Traegers Smoked Salmon and it was amazing. Read what we thought and watch our video below. This article has affiliate links for relevant products (because we are starving bloggers you know).

I like to say about wild game that there is a story with every meal. Well, there’s a tale with every fish too. Last summer, my boys were able to go to Lake Superior for a weekend with grandpa and one of his good friends Doug. You may remember Doug from our video on Grilled Pheasant Poppers. I’ll put that one down below if you haven’t seen it yet. Not only did the guys have an awesome weekend fishing out on the big lake, they brought home plenty of lake trout and salmon. Today, we are reviewing the Traeger Smoked Salmon Recipe.

Salmon is one of the best-eating fish in the world. It’s unique flavor and high-fat content make it a perfect fish to grill or smoke. With a pellet grill like a Traeger, you don’t have to use a cedar plank, the woody smoke will produce plenty of great flavors as we cook it.

Our Experience

Still learning the best ways to use a Traeger to cook fish, I decided to follow their own recipe. Here’s what happened.

Traeger lists a very simple recipe to smoke salmon on their website.

First, season the fillet.

Place the salmon skin side down right on the grill.

Smoke the salmon for half an hour, then continue to cook the fillet at 225 for an additional hour.

You can see how pretty the fillet looks?

Now, we also made a cucumber dill sauce to top off the smoked salmon. Get the recipe here. It’s great for all sorts of fish.

Pheasant Video

Oh, here’s that video of Doug with the Pheasant Poppers that I promised above.

We love our Traeger. From smoked meats to great fish and even cooking bread, we use it all year round. Check them out at Amazon. https://amzn.to/2SaH7dy
